Gastroenterology and Endocrinology refferal

Im a 27 year old male and I recently had a plethra of tests to discover what's wrong with me.

It started with weight loss and bloating. It was discovered i had Giardia so I got treated for that.

I thought great and that was the end of it. I got my appetite back but got persistent fatigue and weakness that continues even now and an assortment of different pain. Also noted my blood sugars have been erratic since the symptoms began. I'm type 1 diabetic btw.

All my bloods looked normal but I had a stool sample tested. During this period I noticed blood in my stool which concerned me.

The doctor then called to confirm inflammatory markers were raised from the stool sample.

I have been referred to gastroenterology and endocrinology and i was interested on what to expect?

  • I'm sorry about the symptoms you've been contending with Mrk1993 but fingers crossed your referral will be able to figure out the cause and that it's nothing sinister.

I noticed you were wanting to know what may happen at your gastroenterology and endocrinology appointment so I just thought I would give you our cancer nurses telephone number as they may be able to help so if you'd like to discuss this with them they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of members who have had referrals to these departments will share their experiences with you soon as well.

    All the best,
