Breast pain and feeling unwell - antibiotics haven't cleared

Hi,

I've had this strange pain deep in my breast near the rib cage start where it can suddenly shoot pain up through my breast to my nipple. This happens on and off and especially when I am sleeping and change position. I also felt very tired and full of flu but without a high temperature. I went to see the doctors and they said that I wasn't presenting normally (no obvious redness etc) but they suspected a breast infection and to try antibiotics. This didnt clear it and I also then developed a very painful lymph node under my armpit when that course of antibiotics ended. The doctors then recommended a second dose of antibiotics which helped clear the lymph node but not the breast pain. I now have pain in my back at the same point as the pain in my breast. I am going to see the breast clinic tomorrow as the doctor referred me for more tests to rule out cancer. Just feeling very scared, I know pain is rare for cancer, but I just feel something is really wrong.

    Hi Jenwlliaalm,

A very warm welcome to our forum. It sounds as if this has been dragging on, so you are just as well to get it checked out, even if only for your own peace of mind. You are right that it is unusual to have pain with breast cancer. I am not a doctor, but wonder if this could be hormonal?

Please try not to worry about your appointment tomorrow. Most of the staff at these clinics are very helpful and understanding. Are you aware that you may not get any answers tomorrow and, may have to wait 1-2 weeks for the results of some tests before your consultant can be certain?

I sincerely hope that all goes well for you tomorrow. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Fingers crossed for good news!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
