Lumps on my neck won’t go away

Hi,

I'm a 15 year old boy and I've had these lumps on the left side of my neck for around 4 weeks now after noticing them, I have recently also found a small one that Dosent really pertrude through the skin but you can feel. One of the lumps is more on the back of my neck almost touching the bottom of my hair and is around finger tip size feels well I don't know how to describe it but it moves under the skin. The second one is in the occipital area ( I just saw that online and it's where it is) this lump has like 2 small lumps touching so it feels like one but feels tender and can be moved. After having them for 2 weeks I went to the doctors they examined all the lymph node areas and said to come back in 3 weeks if it hasn't gone down as she thought it was swollen lymph node. Im due to go back in a weeks and im just starting to get worried, I really hope I don't have anything like lymphoma as it would ruin my summer I don't have night sweats and im not I'll/ fatigue im really active as I play football 5 days a week, and I haven't really been ill just a runny nose really does anyone have any advice of what it could be I wouldn't be worried but it says swollen lymph nodes should of gone down by now. I've looked online to see what the next sign of lymphoma is and it's lumps in the armpit I have checked my armpit and am pretty certain there are none but what do they feel like the same as the ones in the neck ?

thanks.

  • Hi!

The first thing you mentioned here is runny nose, and lymph nodes usually pop up in response to infection in these areas. I wouldn't worry, even if your doctor referred you for a test as they are quite common for many reasons.

And also to add, lymphoma doesnt usually have any normal progression routes, you could get it anywhere. The body is unpredictable.

I do hope you feel relaxed soon, I'd talk to toue mother about this rather than Google because you can get very inaccurate information online. Good to see the GP though! They can give diagnostic advice.

  • Try not to worry I feel the exact same I'm 16 and had just a runny nose and ended up having a bunch of lymph nodes pop up on one side of my neck you would be suprised but your body is probably fighting an infection you are unaware of as I had bloods done and my results say that I am fighting a viral infection explaining the lymph nodes also sometimes they don't go away and stay swollen mine are yet to go down I wouldn't worry though it will only drive you crazy as it did me

  • Hey please don't worry guys I've had swollen nodes since I was 21 I'm now 30 and still fine I no how scary it can be as I went years panicking but still all ok
