SWOLLEN LYMPH NODES

Hi everyone, around 4 weeks ago I had tonsillitis and I noticed a lump on my neck. I waited to get better and then went to the doctors. She referred me to the hospital and I had my appointment yesterday. The doctor put a camera up my nose and said it looks like it's a swollen lymph node. He said he thinks he can see another one under my jaw line as well which looks a little swollen. He is now sending me for an ultra sound and I am completely wracking my brains about it. My Nan has lymphoma and I'm feeling so anxious to the point where I can't even eat or sleep. The doctor also mentioned them taking a biopsy if they needed to. Has anyone else been referred for an ultrasound? What was your experience? Did you get the results straight away? I'm so nervous.

  • Hello

I have recently had swollen nodes due to the vaccine. I also found a lump in my neck that the GP didn't think was vaccine which set extra panic in so I paid for a private ultrasound. I did also have NHS ultrasounds for the nodes. I got an appt the next day for private scan but had to have a GP referral letter.

I was told straight away by the scanner and it put my mind at ease instantly. I can understand you are stressed, but you have also said that you were ill and lymph nodes enlarge through that kind of illness so don't always think the worst but I know it is easy to.

Has your GP sent you for bloods? I also had bloods done as they can also tell a lot and I think if anything more serious there could be certain parameters for some of the bloods that are checked?

    sending best wishes
