Hi everyone, hoping I can seek any advice from you all regarding the wait for ovarian cancer diagnosis.
I am 41 and always had gynae problems and had a basketball sized cyst, along with my left ovary removed when I had my first child prematurely in 2002. ( Cyst was benign). In February this year, I had a telephone consultation with my GP due to being bloated and generally feeling really uncomfortable in my tummy area. I changed to a gluten free diet in the meantime to see if this would help. As my sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December, my GP referred me for an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound at the end of June, and was contacted by my GP 2 days later to discuss the results. They said there was a cystic lesion on my right ovary which has 2 nodes around it with a blood flow which is concerning and referred me to gynaecology oncology. Whilst waiting, I had a CA125 blood test which came back in the normal range. At the hospital appointment, the consultant said she wanted to take a blood test for 3 more markers which were AFP, CEA and HCG for malignancy. She also examined me and noted I had pain on my right hand side and explained they are concerned about the nodes with blood flow to the mass, and that the MDT would meet to discuss the next course of action.
I haven't heard anything for 3 weeks so I called the consultants secretary who advised there are no notes on my file and the MDT meet fortnightly on a Wednesday so maybe I am on the next list for discussion.
My anxiety is through the roof and I am so worried.
