Testicular Ultrasound + Going Forward

Hi everyone,

So I noticed a change in the feeling of one of my testicles. It doesn’t feel like what I’d imagine a lump to be like per se but it definitely feels different somehow. I went to my GP to be on the safe side and she agreed it wasn’t quite a lump but something was off, so I’ve been referred for an ultrasound. My appointment is early next week.

I’m hopeful it’s nothing and I’ve done a fair bit of research so I’m not overly scared, even if it does turn out to be testicular cancer but I’m someone who likes to be prepared and know what’s around the corner. So I’m wondering, if I do in fact have testicular cancer, how long would it usually be between the ultrasound, them telling me the result, and the surgery to remove it?

Thanks,

Owen

  • Hello owensw17,

You did well when you noticed something wasn't quite right in one of your testicles to go and visit your GP and now it's just a waiting game until you get your ultrasound next week. You're right not to be overly scared as there are so many things it could be other than testicular cancer. So try not to anticipate what it might be and to keep busy and distracted while you are waiting to find out more. You've asked for more information about testicular cancer and I thought I would share with you our testicular cancer page on our website which I hope will answer all questions you may have. You can also find out more on this page about the ultrasound scan. It mentions that "you usually get your results within a few weeks of your test".

I hope everything goes well at your appointment next week and that everything turns out to be fine

    Best wishes,
