20mm colon polyp discovered - please share experiences

Hello,

I am a 36 year old who has been experiencing bowel issues for over a year. Mucus and blood in stools and bowel consistency changes. My blood tests kept on coming back normal but I continually asked for a colonoscopy and was finally granted one. During the procedure they found a 20mm Pedunculated polyp type IV gyrus pit pattern . I'm awaiting the histology report but it's a long wait and would appreciate others experience with this size and type of polyp. Thank you.

  • Hi Jo,

I am also in a similiar/earlier path than you. My bowel trouble started in Auguat last year and being young youre definately taken lightly when it comes to BC. I am now on 2 week urgent refferal for a Colonoscopy.

Did you bowel troubles clear up in the year or where they always present, was it a lot of blood? did you ever undertake a FIT test or Calprotectin/Lactoferrin test?

Hope you get some good news soon :)

    Dave

  • Hey Guys,

Hope you both got your results and doing well. I am 27 years old and had a sigmoidoscopy yesterday, they found a 20 mm pedunculated polyp on my rectum. I am very anxious and worried as this appears to be on the larger side of polyps and comes with its risks according to the literature that I have been reading. I have been referred for further investigations but I can't stop worrying about it. Is there anyone else who has had similar results, please share your experience. Jo, do yo mind since similar size polyp has been found in your tests?
