Multiple breast lumps

Hi Everyone

Thank you to anyone who will read this.

I'm looking for others experiences please and maybe just need to write to others who can understand how I'm feeling.

Initially I felt my breasts had become quite lumpy. I'm 41 and just put this down to age changes. Then I found what felt like a lump. It felt lob long and quite deep down in the upper part of my right breast. I went to the GP, thinking she wouldn't even be able to feel it & that it was nothing to worry about. So I was put into a spin when she found the lump and referred me to breast clinic on an urgent 2 week referral. The doctor told me my breasts do feel very lumpy, this could be lipoma, something starting with a f or cancer. I came out feeling shocked, terrified and upset.

I've been keeping an eye on the lump since i was at the GP and I have since found more lumps in both breasts. Ever since the GP examined me my breast has felt sore and tender. When I feel the different lumps some are tender to touch  , others not. Some are small, some are big.

Last night both my breasts felt sore and my whole chest felt very hot for the whole night. The worry kept me awake till 4am. My chest, stomach,  neck is still feeling hot today. I don't know if that can be related but certainly felt it started off with my breasts feeling warm to touch.

My nipple on the right is tender and the red bumpy part around the nipple seems to have got larger too.

I'm feeling very worried about what is causing this.

I would appreciate to hear anything anyone has to say.

Thank you

Clara

  • Hi Clara,

Welcome to Cancer Chat, and I'm sorry to hear of your worries. I can imagine this must be unsettling and the uncertainty is never easy - I'm sure the referral was a shock but also it will mean you should get the answers before too long.

It may have been a precautionary referral but either way you will find out the information you need soon. Many people who are referred turn out to not have any problems, so try not to assume anything at this point. Some of the tenderness may also be due to touching it, and sometimes a lot of worry can cause issues too.

I can see you've been chatting to a few others on here, so I hope that the forum is helpful.

I hope it's not too long to wait for your appointment.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
