4 periods in 6 weeks

Hi everyone, i was hoping for some reassurance or similar stories if possible.

Im 27 years old and have 2 children, a 2 year old and a 9 month old. My periods have always been like clockwork, i track them on an app and whenever my app says I'm due on that day, my period always starts. My cycle is 28 days and im usually on for 6 days.

But, I've now had 4 periods in 6 weeks. And its not spotting. Its the proper stuff where i have to wear pads. My period happened as normal on 13th - 18th June. Then i had another one 29th June - 4th July. 13th - 18th July and another one that started yesterday.

I'm googling like mad and have been scaring myself silly. I rang the GP and they didnt really seem to think it was an issue, they're also not doing face to face appointments so everything is over the phone. The dr said i should be concerned if it happens for 3 months.

Has anybody ever gone through something similar?

Thank you so much xo

  • Hello elle94x,

A big welcome to our forum! It must indeed have been a bit of a suprise for you that you had 4 periods in 6 weeks when you are used to them being like clockwork normally. They sound pretty useful those apps that track your cycle! I can understand why you were a bit worried but try not to google too much as this will only make you worry more and will rarely provide satisfactory answers. It's good you talked to your GP about it too and if it keeps happening do follow your doctor's advice and don't hesitate to get back in touch with them. Could there be for example anything that changed in the last month that may explain this? For example some birth control pills can trigger bleeding outside of your normal cycle so it is worth asking yourself too whether there have been any changes like this in recent weeks that could explain it or if it is just a random occurrence.

I hope it all settles quickly and that it all goes back to being like clockwork!

    Best wishes,
