Private Hospital MRI Scan - Results only via consultant?

Hi All,

I recently consulted with an ENT consultant through private medical insurance due to neck / throat pain initially diagnosed to be due to a cyst. The ENT consultant referred me for an MRI scan via the same private hospital. I did the MRI scan today and the report from the radiologist should be ready in the next two days. When I asked the MRI department what time I could collect my MRI report they told me that they do not directly give the reports to the patient but it's only given through the referring consultant, in this case the ENT consultant. However my appointment with the consultant is 8 days away and this would mean I'm in the dark about the MRI results and at the same time in constant pain. Is giving the report only via the referring consultant normal procedure when consulting privately? Should I not have access to my reports if I need them before the appointment with the consultant?

Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
