Bowel endometriosis or bowel cancer?

Hi All,

I've been having gynecological issues for number of years but these past 6 months the pain has been unbearable. From what started as a gyno related pain, heavy periods sometimes flooding, pain in right groin only and down the right thigh, extreme bloating in some cases it looks like a baby belly. This has now extended to my back and bowels. Lately I have been experiencing more stomach discomfort and urge to go to the toilet. I also get what feels like a pressure discomfort when sitting down. This has now started to impact the enjoyment of being with my partner. During sexual intercourse (vaginal) I was getting pain In the right side of my groin, now it has got alot worse and the pain can be felt in the rectal area and lower back. I do get the urge to go to the toilet and my bowels can fluctuate between hard and soft but no blood as far as I can see.

I have had a ultrasound and TransV scan all of which showed nothing but healthy organs, so now I'm a bit puzzled. I have mentioned the symptoms being displayed around the bowels and during intercourse and my Dr has dismissed it and said as I'm only 38 this is probably due to stress and ibs.

What next steps should I take as I feel like as the ultrasound hasnt showed anything up the Drs feel there is no further action required. It's really started to get me down.

Any help appreciated x

  • Hi EmmaB83,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing these issues. It's good that you've got things checked out although I'm sure you're still left with questions.

If the symptoms continue and you feel you don't have any answers or next steps to take, the only thing to really do is speak to your GP again. If you don't feel comfortable seeing the same GP, you can always ask for a second opinion.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hey Emma,

I've just come across your post and wanted to see how you're doing?

I'm having the exact same issues as you and wondering too if endo or cancer - I've had issues since I was 16 (now 26) and the last few months have been debilitating. My only different symptoms to you is persistent blood in stool - which has been quite terrifying... and almost constant upset stomach and urgency, inc accidents which is so wonderful !!

I've got a flexi sig scope booked for next week for investigations, my GP wasn't taking me seriously so I called 111 and ended up in A&E who have pushed this referral with the gastro department for investigation through.

Please don't let people dismiss you, either find a way around your GP or keep being persistent. We shouldn't have to live like this!

would love to hear how you're doing since your post,

Sending well wishes - Charlotte x
