Waiting for results/follow up appointment

Hi 

I am so stressed and anxious so I just need to put it all into words and it might help me.

My health issues started in October 2020 but I'll get on to my most recent problem.

I had an MRI in March following a CT scan which showed a spleen lesion, it took 5 weeks to get results by letter to anyone who wonders how long results take.

The letter said I needed a repeat one in 8 weeks with follow up appointment 2 weeks later to discuss results.

18 weeks on and several phone calls later I have found out my appointment isn't for another 5 weeks.

I know Covid has slowed things down but do you think they would make me wait over 5 months since first MRI if it was cancer?

Has anyone else had to wait this long?

    I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns and that you're waiting on a follow-up scan. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about the results and the delay that you've experienced in waiting. 

    Have you spoken with your GP or the Consultant/team to raise your concerns with them? It may be that they're able to give you some reassurance about things. Alternatively, you could speak with your local PALS office to see if there is anything they are able to do to help. 

    we do have a team of nruses here at CRUK and if you think it may be helpful to chat things through with them you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will offer any advice and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.
