Pancreatic cancer?

I suffer with extreme health anxiety. My mum died of pancreatic cancer 3 years ago. She was only ill for 3 weeks. I have been having some stomach issues over the past few months and now I am convinced I have pancreatic cancer. About 9 weeks ago I had some watery diarrhoea and had some bright red blood in the pan. I had a colonoscopy last week and am awaiting results. More alarming is that just before this I was having an ache or sore like feeling above my belly button but below sternum, right in the middle. This has now developed into pressure feeling under left rib which feels like a tennis ball has been inflated under there. It's so uncomfortable. This discomfort also goes to my left side and for some bizarre reason I can sometimes feel it in upper right side. It's all in the diaphragm. I have no sickness and no issues with eating etc. I do get relief from the pressure when I lie down. Does this sound like pancreatic cancer? My apologies to anyone who has this diagnosis if I sound insensitive. Seeing my mum pass from this awful disease has obviously left its mark on me

Thanks

  • Hello MelsyT

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems at the moment. It's understandable after losing your Mum so quickly that you're feeling anxious about your symptoms.

It's good to hear that you've already had some investigations and hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the results which will bring you some reassurance about what is going on.

In the meantime, you might find it helpful to have a look at the NHS website information about health anxiety which has some tips, advice, and links to help you manage things. You may also want to think about speaking with your GP to get some support to help you.

I do hope that things settle and improve soon.

    Best wishes,
