Found breast lump and been referred. Based in Scotland.

Hi everyone

I'm kind of lost, found a lump on Saturday evening on my right breast it's quiet large.  I went to Dr Monday and she sent an urgent referral to the breast clinic, not sure what to expect or if I can take my husband with me.

is everything done that day and you get an outcome? Someone told me that was the case but not sure if that's correct or not.

I understand every area is different I live in Scotland and can't seem to find any info on the appointment system and how long it will be until I receive it.

xx

  • Hello,

Sorry to hear you found a lump! I am going through the same thing. I found a large lump last week, got a GP appointment and he urgently referred me to a breast clinic which I attended today. I unfortunately couldn't take my partner with me as he had to look after our little boy. The staff were amazing, I was expecting to just have an ultrasound/mammogram. They performed an ultrasound which actually revealed 6 lumps in total (completely shocked me) he said he thinks its something called 'breast mouse' and made me wait to see a surgeon. I waited 10 minutes to be seen again and the surgeon examined me and took biopsies from the lumps. 3 needles in total, not necessarily painful but a bit uncomfortable when they pierce the skin. No bleeding as such and was sent on my way to expect the results within 2 weeks. I believe if you're referred to a breast clinic they do try to do everything in one go, but have to wait for results obviously.

    Good luck x
