Breast mouse? Multiple lumps found

So a week ago I found a large lump in my left breast, being only 23 I was mortified. I managed to get a GP appointment pretty much straight away to which he examined me and made an urgent referral to a breast clinic. I attended the breast clinic today, they performed an ultrasound which revealed that I actually 6 lumps across both sides. 4 In my left and 2 in my right, he was surprised I had this many. He said he thinks it could be 'breast mice' / fibroadenoma and made me wait to see a surgeon. I then saw a surgeon who examined me and took multiple biopsies from the lumps and just sent me on my way to expect the results in 2 weeks time. I'm just worried now and having multiple that I didn't know about has worried me even more. Has anyone experienced this befote with this many found?

How do I go about resolving it? I know they can be removed, if there's multiple would I stand a higher chance of getting them removed? I have anxiety as it is, this is adding to it majorly.

  • Hi Jess1997

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some breast health concerns. It's good to know that they were able to see you in the breast clinic quickly and that the Consultant felt the lumps are fibroadenomas. Hopefully, the biopsy results won't take too long and they will confirm that this is the case.

Breast Cancer Now have a good leaflet about fibroadenomas which you may find helpful. If you'd like to have a chat with one of our nurses ahead of your results appointment you're welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice and support and help you think about the kinds of questions you may want to ask at the appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
