Recurrent almost cyclical post menopausal bleeding

Is there anyone who has suffered/is suffering from what feels like regular menses after the menopause? Last year I suddenly started to bleed following a gap of 3 years. The episode was preceded/accompanied by typical menstrual hormonal symptoms ie large spot on chin, clumsy, irritable, headache, pelvic ache, bloating, cramping, sore/swollen breasts etc..I was referred under the 14 day system and after CA125 test, scans, biopsy and a hysteroscopy which included removal of a small polyp no explanation other than potentially from vaginal and endometrial atrophy. There was a small cyst on an ovary so I've continued to be scanned for that but it has now shrunk. In the meantime the bleeding has continued at between 21 and 60 day intervals, very light but continuing for between 2 and 12 days ( getting longer over time).  I've had blood tests that show I'm definitely menopausal although oestradiol higher than would be expected. Now awaiting another hysteroscopy scheduled for 2nd August but petrified as to what might be found.

  • Hello Jumid

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about what may be causing your symptoms but it's good to hear that you're having regular monitoring and that so far nothing of any immediate concern has been found. Hopefully, your upcoming appointment on the 2nd will give the Dr's some answers.

When you're feeling anxious about these kinds of things it can sometimes help to talk to someone and I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses? I'm sure they'd be happy to offer any advice and support that they can ahead of your next appointment. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
