Worried about husband - Waiting on biopsy results

Hi all,

I'm new here and my first post. Hello.

My husband has had a long history of GERD, and was placed on PPI's around 12 years ago. He has had routine endoscopies over the years and was diagnosed with Barrett's many years ago.

He has had several issues over the years and even went private a couple of years back when he had a really bad flare up of acid (he still has lots of acid problems even though he's on the strongest esomeprazole you can take) when the NHS didn't refer him for another endoscopy. Anyway, he had that done and was on the route to potentially getting a fundoplication procedure, but unfortunatly someone picked up his notes and simply stated he should be on medication (medication he was already taking) and the journey ended there again.

Fast forward to now and he's back on the same journey again and speaking with a consultant in regards to the surgery being an option. All his past notes and test results have been lost so he was requested to have another endoscopy done which he had yesterday.

So at his procedure yesterday, they have now said (on his notes that he took away) that they can see no sign of Barretts (which is really confusing as it doesn't just disappear to my knowledge) but there was "an area of nodularity" in the same area that the Barretts was always present (just above GOJ I believe), he also has a "slightly irrrregular z line". Now my husband is absolutely scared and has been spiralling since this information yesterday as he said the only way Barretts disappears is if it's changed into something else (something I cannot say is true or not). Apparently the doctor performing the endoscopy didn't say anything to him either (where as he said usually they go through it with you) but hey, it was a hot day, maybe he wasn't feeling it, but it's made my husband all the more paranoid. My husband is genuinely quite terrified that the biopsies are going to come back to say it's the obvious thing, and I've been telling him to remain calm until the results come through, but as we all know, we would all be the same in this situation and jump straight to panic.

Has anyone else had Barretts and then it's suddenly not been seen? Or has anyone ever had "nodules/nodularity" in the GOJ and it's been something else? If i'm being honest, I'm very worried too but have been trying to avoid Dr Google so after any accounts from other people in a similar situation.

Thank you for reading

P.S Forgot to say, husband is only 33.
