Suspected melanoma biopsy results

I'm hoping I can get some reassurance from this site . I had a biopsy on lower leg on Saturday morning which resulted in 10 stitches. I didn't realise it would be so big any one else have this done and how long for results . Thank you . I'm really worried xxx

Hi,
Yes, the excision of a mole is always far bigger than the mole itself as they take a margin of surrounding tissue too, usually about a 2mm diameter.
Results are taking longer at the moment because of Covid - they are averaging 4 to 6 weeks I'm afraid.
