Ovarian Cancer and Bloating

Hi all,

My first post here but I've been looking through others for some help and guidance.

I've been in and out of hospital this past couple of weeks following extreme abdominal pain. It turns out I have a 6cm cyst on my left ovary. My CA125 is 462. I met with a gynecologist and he said without telling me it's cancer - it's highly likely it's cancer. I had a CT scan yesterday, I've been told I'll also have an MRI and results day is 28th July.

In the meantime, I'm really struggling with the bloating. I constantly look 7 months pregnant and it's so uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to ease this?!

Also - the bloating scares me more than having the actual cancerous cyst. Should it?!

Can anyone shed any light?

Thank you :-)

by the way, I'm 35 and pre menopause.

  • Sounds like we are in the same boat. Although my dr has told me that my ca levels (which I believe are similar to yours (referred to as 46 - with 35 being upper of normal)) can be affected by various things such as menestrating among other things. I have had ct scan and mri and my tumour has properties of cancer such as: vascular, irregular shape, hardened edges and aspects and papillary projections (like little fingers) anyway with all that in view my consultant could not give me a clear diagnosis and I was told I would only know once its removed and tested. I'm having what's called a frozen section this Saturday, I will have the tumour tube and ovary removed and tested while I am under. Depending on the results depends on the extent of the surgery but by the sounds of it quite likely I will have a full hysterectomy. Anyway there is no point in worrying until we know the facts. Just try and deal with what we know right now I think. Try and stay positive because nothing good came from worry.
mad far as bloating I found peppermint tea had helped and green tea with lemon and ginger x good luck with everything xxx

  • Hi Froggery33, thank you for your reply :-)

My CA125 was 1256 initially but I was ovulating at that time. I was tested again 2 weeks later and it was 462.

It does sound like we are in a similar situation, I'm really hoping to at least have the tumour out ASAP and would be ok with anything else they want to take with it if it helps!

Thank you for the tip for the bloating, I will definitely give those a try.

    Best wishes for Saturday x

  • Hi SparkleDust and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but the discussion you've posted on hasn't been active in over 2 years so there's a chance you may not hear back from Butterflyjoy.

I really hope that won't be the case, but if you don't receive a reply, you're welcome to start your own discussion or reach out to others on more recent discussions about this topic.
