Urgent referral help

I have been looking on line for the urgent referral department at local hospital. The only thing that comes up is the  Macmillan help line.

  • Thank you. Enjoy the weekend.

    Take care x

  • Hi,

I meant to ask, did you have pain anywhere before your diagnosis?

  • Good morning,

I'm still getting the hang of hos to reply to these posts.

If you don't mind me asking. We're you feeling pain, when you were referred. Before you got your diagnosis?

My pain is mostly in my back. To the right. Always in the same area.

  • I had been having a few lower left tummy pains after evening meals. Probably fatigue too. I also told the consultant I could feel something under my left rib, just below the breast, not a pain, like a fullness feeling. Most liver pains are meant to be right sided, but mine are left sided. I will be interested to see the consultants letter from last friday, hoping that will come soon.

I did have some mid back pain a while back, but it disappeared.

My gp says I have slightly high calcium levels and must not take any vitamin d supplements, dont know what that is about either.

  • Thank you for sharing,

I had a problem with eating and drinking anything...

I would feel sick and have high tummy pain that would go to the right and end up lower abdomen. This went on daily for over 3mths. This would come with a bad. Mid back pain, that would make me stand on the spot.

The tummy discomfort has settled but I still have, almost daily the pain to the upper right side of my back. My scans are showing something but the consultant wants a more detailed scan.

I am not looking forward to having another scan. But needs must.

Pls keep me updated with your progress and results.

    Take care.

  • That's a shame you still have pain, hopefully the scan will help.show what it is. Are you having mri or ct. I found the liver mri with contrast painful. It was 20 minutes, not too long, but I had to lie with my arms stretched above my head with elbows sticking out, it gave me neck ache and my arms really ached by the end, so not looking forward to that. Mines 2/3 months to monitor the Primary Billiary Cholongitis I have.

  • Hi,

    It doesn't sound very pleasant.

My scan hasn't been booked yet. I have had an ultrasound scan, which my consultant wasn't happy with. Then I had a CT scan which doesn't show what he's looking out for. As that's the nature of the CTS.

I had another ultrasound scan as the 1st was done in the community. My Consultant wanted the 2nd one done in the hospital where he is.

From that scan on viewing, the radiologist said I will need another scan. As I've had the other options I feel the next can only be an MRI scan.

I have an inflamed rota cuff, left shoulder. If I need to hold my arms up for a long while, I'm not too sure how that will be...

    I am also claustrophobic.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

  • They put one thin pillow under my head, I think if I had 2 it would have helped, maybe my muscle tone in my arms isnt very good.

I didnt find it claustrophobic at all, I just kept my eyes shut all the way through. They put earphones on you as the machine makes clanging noise, but it does mute them, I quite the noise of the clanging lol

  • Aww bless, thank you that helps a lot.

I've read before that some people find the clanging relaxing. Lol.
