HPV Positive & Borderline Cell Changes. Very worried!!

Hi,

I am new to this & am really hoping I can source some advice, support & comfort from speaking to others.

So I'm mum to a 6.5 year old son & about to turn 32 in a couple of weeks. I went for my smear test two weeks ago, of which is about a 6 months behind due to Covid-19.

I got a call Wednesday morning (whilst on the school run), saying a referral & an appointment had been made for me at my local hospital to have a Colposcoy. Naturally my anxiety hit the roof & my nerves peaked. I asked why this was, and was told it was due to my smear test coming back with concerns.

I was advised I should have had a letter about the results, however I hadn't & to this day, I still haven't.
I made contact with the Gynaecologist nurse specialist whom advised I had borderline cell changes & had tested positive for HPV.

At this point, I have googled & found so much information out about these, but feel so overwhelmed by it all.

My colposcopy is on Monday 26th July, and I'm just wondering what to expect.

  • Hi Emma,

I'm also going through the same thing. Went for my smear yesterday and had a call that afternoon that they've pushed for me to have a urgent two week referral. I'm so scared! It took me by complete surprise as I have no symptoms. Not so helpful for you, I know. But I want to say that you aren't going through this experience alone X
