In Need of Some Moral Support

At the beginning of this week, I had a drs appointment after having pains, nausea and on and off bleeding for around a month. During my examination they found a growth on the cervix and referred me for an urgent 2 week appointment with the gynaecologist at the hospital. I had my appointment this morning and I had a colposcopy in which they've confirmed there is a "lesion" on my cervix and they took a biopsy.

The wording seemed quite particular and I was told there would be a 3-4 week for the results to come back at which point they will write to me with a plan of what will happen next due to my age (I'm only 22.)

I can't stop thinking about the possibility of the news being the worst case scenario, has anyone ever experienced this that wouldn't mind sharing their experience? This will be the longest month of my life and scared doesn't even come close to how I'm feeling right now.

  • Hi Coldcoffee and welcome to the forum!

I hope you are feeling ok after your appointment this morning, although I understand your fear, and I hope you don’t have to wait as long as 3-4 weeks for your result. I was in the same position as you, although I’m much older, in 2018. Unfortunately, I did get a cancer diagnosis, but that’s not to say you would be the same. Only the biopsy can confirm things. There’s just no way to know until you get that result through.

However, although I suppose you might say it was worst case scenario for me, I’m here enjoying life almost 3 years on! Keep in touch, and if you need any help or support, I’m happy to answer questions etc, bearing in mind I am not a medical professional and can only speak about my experience of having cervical cancer twice. x
