Enlarged lymph node on patroid gland

Evening all.
My husband had melanoma 3 year ago. He had a mole removed and a SLNB which came back clear.

4 weeks ago he had a lump come up in his neck, we saw his nurse and she was sure it was a lipoma and nothing to worry about but because of history he needed a ultrasound and biopsy. Ultrasound showed it was a swollen lymph node on the side of his patroid gland and he has a fine needle aspiration tomorrow.
His cancer nurse called tonight and has ordered he also has a full body ct scan so if it comes back cancer in his nodes he can have surgery asap and drug treatment. It will also rule out cancer anywhere else in his body.

is there anyone in this chat who has had same scenario and it's just been a reactive node not actually cancer? Is there any hope still that this is a possibility. Can nodes swell and not go back?

my husband has 3 mths skin checks with his nurse and this lump wasn't there at his last check. That's the only bit of positive I have to hold on too at the moment.

very grateful to any body else's experiences like this

thank you

  • Hi Ellen151181,

I can understand this must be unsettling, although it's good to hear that it sounds as if things are moving fairly quickly in terms of appointments, and also that the nurse didn't seem too concerned.

I hope the appointment went OK yesterday and that you were able to ask some questions. Hopefully it won't be long to wait before you have all the information you need.

Meanwhile if anyone here has any similar experience to share, then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
