Awaiting diagnosis

My dad is 55+ and has various symptoms such as a lump in the middle of his chest between his ribs. He has also lost all appitete and is drinking supplements as replacement meals. Both me and mum are very worried  about him. He has gone for both x rays and a CAT scan and has been given an appointment for next week. He has now told us that during his initial assessment before they gave him the 2nd scan that they believe he has bone cancer. My dad is the strongest man I know but I'm just so worried about him and what will happen. I'm not entirely sure why I'm posting this but just feel like I need to do/say something but I can't think of anything to help.

  • Hello Anon98

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad is undergoing testing for a possible cancer diagnosis. It's obviously a very worrying time for you all. Hopefully the appointment next week will bring some answers about what is going on for him and what the next steps will be.

If you'd like to chat with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can. they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how he gets on.

    Best wishes,

  • So his results have come back and they're all clear on his chest/lungs however his appetite still has not returned and doctors have recommended a camera down to his stomach to check that out
