Colon cancer

Hi

I'm 54 years old and I spoke to my GP last Friday due to changes in my bowel habits and how I am feeling.  I am feeling bloated all the time, excessive gas, feel like I am not emptying my bowels properly, heavy feeling in lower abdomen, back ache and every now and then spots of blood on toilet paper. I also feel nauseous every now and then and feel tired all the time.  I have also suffered trapped wind with referred pain in my shoulder.

i had ovarian cancer 3 years ago and my father has a stoma due to cancerous polyps. Due to my history and my dads, the GP arranged blood tests which I had yesterday and he has requested an urgent CT scan.

when I was told I had ovarian cancer, I was positive throughout my surgery and up to getting my results.  Thankfully I didn't require chemotherapy.  I have not yet had any diagnosis but I am finding it hard to be remain positive and am thinking the worse.

Has anyone else had the same symptoms ?

  • Hi Jolou,

I'm sorry that you're feeling down about this. Maybe I could somehow help. I've had some symptoms like this before. Excessive gas and bloating. I saw a GP about this and he said it could be about diet. However, I'm not a doctor so I can't say that what I experienced you are also experiencing, and I've not experienced the other symptoms. I don't know if that made you feel better. I hope that you will be okay and that your tests are all great. Maybe find a distraction? I know that sure helps when I feel very stressed about something. I really hope I made you feel better.
