Leepz unknown risk

Hi Everyone, I am really hoping to hear from people who may have had this procedure -  LLETZ for removing pre cancerous cells from the cervix.

I am 25 years old and recently had my first smear test. Four months later I got the results that I have HPV virus (I was initially confused as I had both HPV vaccinations as a teenager to protect from the cancer causing varients)  and severe cell dysplasia. I was booked in for a colposcopy one week later at my local hospital and was told in advance that if they see high grade bad cells they will do the treatment there and then on the day and that it could be a range of treatments such as the LLETZ, or freezing the cells etc.

I attended the hospital appointment for the colposcopy and biopsy, during the procedure I was struggling not to tense up and I kept accidently lifting my hips up during the procedure - the gynaecologist was becoming frustrated with me and in the end I had to psychically hold my hips down to stay completely still as instructed to do so.

During the colposcopy the gynaecologist confirmed high grade cell dysplasia and advised on having the LLetz procedure to remove the bad cells - I did feel extremely grateful and lucky that such preventative treatments can be carried out so quickly and that the results were not worse as I had feared.

The risks to this procedure I was told was infection and the signs to look out for this and also risk of premature labour if I became pregnant in the future.

I agreed to both of these risks and had the procedure which was over very quickly and wasn't as bad as I had imagined it would be.

I was advised not to have any sexual intercourse for four weeks as new cells would be growing back where the bad ones had been removed and not to do any strenuous exercise.

After this procedure I went back to work four ten hours, I had no pain, no bleeding afterwards, no problems at all or so I thought.

Four weeks later I decided to have sex with my fiance as it was deemed safe to do so - I was of course excited to be intimate again however immediately at the beginning of sex I noticed I had ZERO feeling down there - like I was still completely numb with local anaesthetic or paralyzed feeling.

I was of course absolutely gobdmacked to have no sensation AT ALL down there however I was hopeful that this must surely pass and get better?

Weeks had passed and I decided to try again as I was feeling aroused - again immediately I noticed absolutely no sensation at all - cannot even feel the penis go instead (sorry for being so explicit).

Gobdmacked I called a family member who is an advanced nurse who I know also had the exact same procedure for the same reasons many years ago and asked for some advice or if she had heard of this?

She had had the exact same experience not feeling anything at all in the private area following the leepz procedure however it doesn't seem widley reported.

I was hoping if anyone who has had the leepz procedure themselves or knows someone who has;

1 - did you experience the same numbness down there and if so is it permanent?

2 - did your sexual or feeling down there return to normal the first time you had sex following the LLETZ?

I want to stress that I am extremely fortunate and lucky that pre cancerous cells were found and treated and that my life isn't on the line when so many sadly are, but at the same time for my sex life to be completely destroyed permanently not knowing in advance this could even be a possibility has really upset me and obviously will affect my relationship sexually.

Any advice or similar stories would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Gabs x
