Help - post lletz now MRI ?!

Hey

I am looking for advice from anyone who has had similar.

I had CIN3 and HPV16 at smear, had colposcopy within 2 weeks on urgent request and then placed on cancer pathway for a Lletz treatment which took place on 17th March. I wasn't actually due a smear (last one was under 2 years ago), so this is a massive shock and I have no symptoms typically with cervical issues - no pain or bleeding etc.

This week I tested positive for COVID-19 and my consultant called me on Thursday and asked me to come in and discuss my lletz results face to face the following day - naturally alarm bells were ringing. He did a telephone appointment instead and has told me I need an urgent MRI CT and PET scan, my results could have microinvasion and my specimen has more abnormal cells than expected ?! And it's aggressive.

what does this actually mean has anyone had any of this happen?

thanks

  • Hi Tilly,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sure all of this must be unsettling and I know the waiting for answers is tough. It sounds like there is still some uncertainty, so hopefully it won't be long before you find out more.

It's hard to advise on your situation - the best thing may be to wait for the next appointments and take things from there. Try to keep yourself busy in the meantime as this often helps. If you feel you'd like to talk to someone, our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,
