Lump on uvula and growths in throat behind uvula

I had to see someone in a&e to try to figure out what it is and they said I need a biopsy as i had no signs of infection on blood tests , so I tell my gp  and he reads the letter of what the hospital has said but I've not had a appointment come trough for the ENT? , ive had these growths for over a year but I've been waiting for my referral for over 6 weeks to just get an appointment to see them, not even for the biopsy , does it normally take that long ? Because I've read online that it takes 2 weeks if cancer is suspected as its kind of urgent, I need advice urgently and the health care services in my area are terrible I fear its going to spread to an untreatable stage hopefully I've just got non cancerous growths but It's causing me extreme stress by not be addressed

  • Hi Chris.W,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you have this uncertainty and I know the waiting for information is difficult.

The two-week pathway is for urgent referrals - non-urgent referrals can take many weeks longer than this.

The doctor should have mentioned if they were referring you as an urgent referral. If they haven't, try to take some reassurance from this - although I appreciate it doesn't make the waiting any easier.

If you have questions or concerns about the time it's taking, the best thing would be to give your GP a call.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, I really hope you're going to be alright, I'm in the same situation with a pink bump/round in shape protruding slightly on my uluva. Been to the doctors went for a blood test yesterday and have got to see a doctor at the hospital to get a biopsy done. I'm so very scared, lost my mum to cancer and some of my closest friends too recently.
