biopsy results

Hi all,

I had some moles removed 5 weeks ago today but hadn't heard from the hospital regarding my results. I contacted the doctor surgery and they've got me a GP call back with the DR who originally referred me to dermatology tomorrow morning. Do they tend to give good/bad news over the phone?? Part of me feels like if it was fine they wouldn't be calling me but thats probably me just over thinking but then if it WAS bad news I'd have a face to face appt. Getting a bit anxious!

  • Hi,

I can't really say because every hospital and/or GP work differently when it comes to giving results, especially during Covid. Some hospitals are taking up to 8 weeks for results to come back so don't be surprised if your GP says they haven't been informed yet. Usually, all results get discussed at the weekly Multi Disciplinary Team meeting first before the patient & GP are informed so this can sometimes hold things up.

I hope your GP has received them & that they can pass on good news. Good luck and please let us know how you get on today,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
