Breast dents when i raise my arm

I noticed a few days ago upon doing my weekly check that when i raise my right arm up theres a small dentation in the lower part of my breast, very hard to see im not in the right lighting!

I couldn't feel any lumps but obviously called my gp to make an appointment.

Having recently had the gp appointment she noticed that there was a thickening of skin in that area and she could also feel a lumpy mass (obviously not what i want to hear!)

She went on to say that to her it felt like it could possibly be fibrosis of the breast tissue in that area which is benign but she will refer me to get it looked at properly at the breast clinic.

Clearly im going to worry now within these 2 weeks!

Id just like to hear similar circumstances preferably where there was a good outcome in the meantime please

  • Hello Junet88,

You did well to call your GP to make an appointment. It sounds like she was really thorough and it's good that she referred you to the breast clinic just to have it looked at more closely and to be completely sure. There is information on this page on what to expect from your breast clinic appointment as well as a detailed booklet here which explains everything to you in detail.

I hope that you will meet other ladies who have been in a similar situation and that they will be along soon to share their story with you. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for your appointment.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
