Skin texture change normal after a breast biopsy?

Hi all, I was in for a mammogram and ultrasound last Thursday, turns out I have about 7-8 small lumps in my breast and one quite large about 3-4cm (which is why I went in) they took a biopsy and said on the day it looks like fibroadenomas. After the biopsy my breast was not overly sore and did not bother me, but today I noticed my skin texture has changed above the lump, it looks like pink stretch mark lines/ rash? beside a fading bruise and I can feel the texture if I run my finger over it, which is how I noticed it. My breasts are small so strechmarks would not be a normal occurrence to me)

I have a review visit scheduled for next week, but not sure if I should be concerned about this change? :(

Over the last few weeks I have also been experiencing like a shimmer/goosebumps (?) run over the same breast pretty consistently.. I could be overreacting and trying not to worry in advance.

But has anyone else experienced skin changes around the area after a needle biopsy?

thank you x

  • While reading on the forum I noticed this is your first post with us so I wanted to stop by to say hello and welcome you to Cancer Chat, Sammi007.

I'm sorry to hear that you found these lumps in your breast that had to be investigated but I'm glad that you took action and went to have them checked.

As for your question, I'm afraid that I can't tell you what this skin change after the needle biopsy might mean, only your medical team will be able to give you an answer that can be trusted.

Hopefully this week you have to sit and wait will go by fast and you'll soon hear that you have nothing to worry about. In the meantime, if you can't keep your mind off things though and feel that it might help to chat with someone medically trained, our team of nurses will be happy to take your call. They're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Once you know more, please come back and give us an update. We're keeping our fingers crossed for you.

    Best wishes,
