Worried about pelvic pain and bleeding

Hello everyone,

I am new here. I am 37 year old female. I have been taking contraceptive mini pill Cerelle (Desogestrel) for 20 years with pretty much no issues or bleeding. I had chronic anorexia nervosa for approx 15 years.

In early May, I had pain in my low abdomen/pelvis, then I had bleeding. I did get a fright, I had to go out and buy pads. Anyway, I figured that these things can happen, it wasn't new blood like a period so I thought I would just ignore it and it would go away.

I have been bleeding on and off since, so approx 2 months. Some days just bad pain and the next day more blood. Have been needing to wear period pants (more eco friendly!) since and saw GP last week. Have been referred for transvaginal scan.

A similar situation happened exactly 2 years ago (2019), eventually the bleeding stopped and the scan didn't show anything. Am not sure what is going on. Am worried something really bad is wrong as I am in a lot of pain.

I am sorry to read other peoples stories which are similar, but it is reassuring. I have no idea how many friends/colleagues could be experiencing similar symptoms.

Any advice most welcome

  • I have started a new thread - received appointment for a Hysteroscopy - waiting to see what that means

  • Quick update - see the new thread for details but Smoore921 I promised to update you -

Transvaginal scan showed something - possibly a uterine polyp - I then received an appointment for a Hysteroscopy procedure to send a little camera into the womb to see what was going on and maybe take samples/remove said polyp . . . .

Unfortunately I found the Hysteroscopy too painful (had Diazepam and gas and air) so am not waiting for same thing under general anaesthetic . . . could be 3 -6 months at least.

It's disappointing that I couldn't get everything "sorted out" in one appointment, but will just have to wait now.

Hope you are doing okay with your own situation
