Hi,
I am 55 year old male and have just received fit test result as being positive.
My gp has done an urgent referral to a colorectal surgeon.
I am a little worried about this , would be nice to hear any feedback on what this referral may mean.

Welcome to the forum Andy although I'm sorry for the worry your referral is causing.
As you'll see here, a positive FIT test doesn't necessarily mean you have cancer as blood in your poo can be caused by other medical condiitons but further tests are needed to find out the cause. One of the tests you may have is a colonoscopy, which you read up on just here. The charity Bowel Cancer UK have some information about other hospital tests you may have as well.
I hope this helps but if you feel it may help to talk things through with someone then you're very welcome to give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do their best to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.
Hopefully some of our members who have been through this process will share their experiences with you soon as well.
Kind regards,
Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
