Hello,
I hope you are all doing well, and I apologise for clogging up your forum with a post like this, but I don't feel I have anywhere else to turn. This isn't even about me, but I do struggle with anxiety, so perhaps that has a part to play, but I'm ever so worried about my partner, and if I could tell you the story and anybody could offer any advice, I'd be very thankful and appreciative.
My partner has swollen lymph nodes on either side of his groin. He's had them about two years, and thought they were hernias, since he's had them before. I was none the wiser, but recently convinced him to go see a GP because I worry, and to tell them everything that's wrong, especially since he hasn't been seen in a long time because of covid. He's suffered rather unexplainable issues on and off for a while, including stomach pains which he describes as 'gut rot', morning sickness, difficult bowl movements and night sweats (I wouldn't have given this a thought but I keep seeing it on symptom lists). Most of these have stopped and haven't returned for many months, especially the night sweats, which were very infrequent anyway, and he feels fine otherwise.
He's 27 years old, and from what I can tell, the nodes are about baked bean/kidney bean sized, are slightly moveable under the skin, cause him no pain, and feel rubbery, I think? I'm not even sure how firm/hard is cause for concern.
He has seen his GP once, who also referred him to a hernia specialist. The specialist took one look and said they're swollen lymph nodes and he needs to see his GP again. It's taken a month for a misdiagnosis. Attempting to get another GP appointment is proving difficult, and will probably take another month, but I can't cope with the stress and worry. I'm considering getting him a private GP appointment, but that would cause financial stress too, but of course it's very worth it, if they would be better at helping him. Is a private GP appointment the way to go? Would they be able to do bloods, and am I right in thinking a blood test would either answer some questions or rule out some of the scary stuff?
Thank you so much if anybody has taken time to read and respond.
I wish you all the very best
