Hi,
I have been having some troubles for a while, painful heavy irregular periods which include large clots, random bleeding throughout my cycle, bleeding during and after intercourse, bloating etc. So I booked an appointment with the doctor in March and she referred me for some ultrasound scans. I had to wait 12 weeks for these to be done and my symptoms were gradually getting worse week by week. A week before I had the scans done, I rang my doctor again to explain these symptoms and that they were getting worse so she asked me to go in to see her for an internal.
she took some swabs and checked my cervix and found a thickening which she thinks is causing the random bleeding. So she referred me to see a gynaecologist, the only appointment available was for November so I booked it anyway as I didn't want it to get pushed further back!
In the same week of booking that appointment I had my scans done and the doctor sent me a text a few days later saying my swabs showed I have thrush (I've had no symptoms of that!) and that I have a cyst on my ovary so she was going to update my gynaecologist referral letter because she wanted to cyst to be looked at. I haven't been told anything else about the cyst, I have no idea how big it is or which ovary it's on.
as I had already booked the gynaecologist appointment I rang the doctors to tell them and was passed on to my doctors secretary who told me she knows about my case as my November appointment has been rejected and she wanted to know if she can swap the hospital, she told me she would send the new referral letter through to me. I received it the next day and it now says that I will be contacted by the 15th July to arrange an appointment.
Is this classed as an urgent referral? Or will my appointment be in months time? I'm having constant lower pains and back pains, this is every day. It's not so bad I need to take tablets but I know it's definitely there.
has anyone had a similar experience?
I should mention I have a strong family history of ovarian and breast cancer, this should be on my notes as I had the BRCA2 gene test done a few years ago (I'm negative) but I was told that I still need to be monitored because of the family history being so strong. The doctor hasn't actually asked about the family history so I'm assuming she already knows.
so sorry for the essay! I'm trying to not over think everything but I just feel like I have no idea what's going on!
thank you x
