I don't know what's going on

Hey all!

I've been having a few abdominal issues of late. There's been a few significant changes in bowel habits and I'm quite honestly scared. Three weeks ago I lost a friend who had complications due to metastatic lung cancer. A week after that a very close, dear friend of mine passed away due to complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer.

It's safe to say I'm a bit spooked, especially when one day, after no cause for alarm or pain, I (excuse the graphics) started to wipe after using the loo and there was a large amount of blood on the toilet paper.

I went to the doctor as I've had a few cramps and bloating and now this, so thought I'd get it checked out. After doing a couple of blood tests and poop tests, apparently the results came back all clear. But that same daywhich was actually yesterday, I've had bad cramping and bloating in my lower left abdomen, and there's been a lot of bleeding. To the point where I went to the toilet 3 or 4 times - not to have a bowel movement - but to pass wind. However there wasn't any trapped wind that came out, it was just blood.

I'm going back to the doctor today and he said it could be Diverticulitis, however after everything that's happened recently, I'm worried it could be something like bowel cancer.

Thanks for reading and letting me vent my worries!

  • Hi Jake,

I'm sorry to hear of everything you've been through recently. It's good that you are getting this checked out - it's only your doctor who can advise, so hopefully you have been able to see them again to get their thoughts.

I hope things ease for you soon.

    Wishing you all the best,
