Submandibular FNA help? X

Hello,

I'm Ivy, I'm 45 and this Tuesday coming I have a Ultrasound guided FNA on a lesion found on my submandibular Salivary gland.

I had gone to the ENT for Pulsatile tinnitus and he referred me for a CT with Dye scan. They couldn't find a reason for the PT but whilst they were there saw the lesion.

This was 2 weeks ago and my FNA is Tuesday coming.

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about Glandular fever and whether that would show up as a lesion on a CT?

I feel swollen around the neck and my throat is a bit sore. This has just come on in the last couple of days. I've felt drained of energy for months and "not myself" Can't explain it really.

I've never had Glandular fever before and I hope it's that, rather than something worse. My health anxiety is playing up immensely. *** myself really.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day x

  • Hi Ivy and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I noticed you have your FNA today so I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know we're thinking of you.

You can find out more about glandular fever just here but to find out whether it would show up as a lesion on a CT scan it would be best to ask your GP or possibly the team carrying out your FNA today.

We'll have our fingers crossed the lesion isn't anything sinister.

    Kind regards,

  • Thanks so much Steph x

I'm feeling a bit nervous and worried too as my neck feels so tight, around my thyroid area. It's like having a belt tied round my neck.
The positive side is that I haven't read that to be a symptom of Submandibular Cancer so hopefully thinking that I just have an infection that is easily treated.

Thank you for your well wishes, it's at 3pm so not long now.

    Have a lovely day! X
