Cyst found in womb/ovary - pls help

My 88 yr old gran has had a cyst found today by ultrasound and CT scan they are unsure exactly where it is unsure if it's in womb or in ovary. They tried to do biopsy but womb was closed so they are going to take the case to the team to decide if they leave it as is and monitor it or put her in general anaesthetic and take a biopsy. She's had a lot of thick green discharge, spotting, several UTI's which is what prompted our request to have this looked into.

can anyone shed any light on this pls? Im

vonfused As to why they could be considering on one hand to leave it and keep an eye on it and also considering going in under GA to take a sample ?!

  • Hello Gbutterfly20

I'm sorry tohear that your Gran has had some health problems recently which have led to the discovery of this cyst. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and concerned about things.

Sometimes the Consultant will decide to monitor an ovarian cyst to see if there are any changes before deciding on the best way forwards but it sounds like they may want to do some further investigations as the picture is a little unclear at the moment.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nruses you're welcome to call them. I'm sure they will be happy to try and offer any advice and information that they can. they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon and that things improve for her.

    Best wishes,
