Waiting for breast biopsy results

Hi all.

I'm 33 and 20 weeks pregnant. Went to breast clinic last night after waiting a month for an appointment after being referred by GP. I had ultrasound but she still wasn't sure what it was so I had to have a biopsy done as well. As if the month wait wasnt long enough I now have to wait another 10 days for any further info. She mentioned she was hopeful it is a fibroid adenoma but can't be sure. I know that 80% of biopsies come back as benign but it is so difficult to not think about that 20% and the worst case ya know? Don't really know the point of this post other than wondering if anyone else is currently waiting for biopsy results. I've taken today off work as I've just stressed myself out so much :(

  • Thank you.

    I'm staying positive

  • [@dustcat]‍ that's good to hear that you have got your appointment through! out of curiosity how long had it been since you had your biopsy before you had the appointment through today? was it by letter or a call?

  • Hi [@worried9211]‍  just wondering if you ended up getting your results today? If so I hope it went well x

  • Just to say I'm sorry that it wasn't better news for you but it is good to hear that you are staying positive. Hopefully things will move along nice and quickly for you now x

  • Hey [@xemx]‍   [@dustcat]‍

I have a fibroadenoma!!! To say I am shocked/relieved is an understatement.  I genuinely prepared myself for bad news.  I of course feel over the moon.

I hope that you all get good news too! I will be praying for you!  Just goes to show you.... have hope with what the outcome might be!

    keep me updated x

  • [@worried9211]‍  I am so happy for you! this is the best news :)

I can't remember if you said or not, but how long was it after having your biopsy until today when you got the results? Did you get a letter/told over the phone or go back to the clinic for results?

I am really hoping that my outcome is the same as yours, on day 8 of waiting for a call or something though so I am praying for it every day!

  • Hi Brie21

I just caught your thread on here. Just to say - even though the news wasn't good, definitely stay positive!

I am 48 and was diagnosed with bc on 5th May. Since then I have had surgery (lumpectomy) to remove the lump and some surrounding tissue. It was all really straightforward. I had 3 lymph nodes removed too. They were found to be all clear. So .... I am now technically cancer free already! It's amazing how brilliant the treatment plans are. We are in very safe and knowledgeable hands.

I have to have some additional treatments in order to prevent reoccurrence. I am awaiting to hear if I should have a course of chemo. I find out on 19th. I will definitely be having radiotherapy and be prescribed hormone suppressants (due to my cancer being hormone positive).

Chemo won't be ideal. But it's just 4 rounds over 3 months. A blip is all.

Stay positive. You will be just fine. Sending love Sarah xxx

  • Thank you Sarah.

So glad your technically cancer free! Hope the rest of the treatment goes well for you. ️

  • Thanks [@xemx]‍ !!!!

attended the clinic Monday (5th) and got results today, so only had to wait 3days... the NHS are amazing!
I'll be hoping and praying for you too! I'm sure you'll get your answers very soon!  Big big hugs x

  • [@worried9211]‍
There you go!! That's great news, so relieved for you! I knew you'd be OK!

    [@xemx]‍
My hospital has an app/online portal that patients can have an account with - I am already a long-term patient with them due to IBD, so I already have the app set up and I got a notification today with the appointment details for next week, but there will be a physical appointment letter sent too.
My clinic appointment when I had the biopsy was last Thursday.
