I need help on what to do

Ive found 2 lumps in my breasts, i think they change size during my cycle but im paranoid im just thinking they do, ive been getting very worked up about them incase its a problem. Recently in the past month or so ive had one in my armpit too, ive called my doctors and they wouldnt see me in person but on call said it should be fine as ive got no family history, im 16 and i dont smoke or drink etc but i am terrified, what should i do? Does this sound very concerning? Im not sure how to use this im sorry if im doing it wrong :/ i can move all these lumps freely and they dont hurt unless i do it too often and irritate them i suppose. Theres no dimples or discharge etc just lumps

  • Please don't panic as at your age changes happen to our bodies all the time.  Also breast cancer is in the media all the time so it's natural that you'll immediately think the worst.  Lumps can be fatty lumps, pre menstrual or because our bodies are growing and changing and you're very young and healthy by the sounds of it.  If you're still worried you have the right to see your GP so tell them you want a face to face appointment.  I've had fatty lumps in my breasts at age 54 years and they were not cancer, so it can be other things.  I hope everything settles down soon for you.  Kind regards, Carol

  • Hi there ...

Firstly, it's so so so rare for someone your age to have breast cancer ... and you could be making things more tender if you keep prodding them ... try leaving them a few weeks and see if they go naturally.. the best time to feel for lumps is in the shower with a flat hand ... not prodding ... can you ask your mum what she thinks or sister or someone you trust ...

If they don't go, maybe your parent could have a word with your g p ... as even though it's so rare, lumps should be checked ... but it really is extremely unlikely ...

Fingers crossed it will be fine ... but gentle but firm, asking your Dr to examine you if they don't go ... Chrissie....

  • Thank you very much, i hope its all ok i just cant help but worry a bit, ive had one of them since February im not sure how long they take to go or if theyll even go? Thanks again

  • Thank you very much, ive had one of them since February and i last spoke to the gp around the end of april, i do hope itll all be ok, thank you again

  • Please don't become obsessed about this and have it checked if it's upsetting you. Carol x
