Waiting for bowel polyp results

Just over 2 weeks ago I had polyps removed during colonoscopy. I was told I had more polyps including a flat or sessile one? that needed removing so I am having another polypectomy tomorrow.

Ive not had any results from the first ones they removed yet?Do you think they're waiting till it's all done?

I feel very alone as I don't want to worry anyone though to be honest even when I have tried to talk to family I just get a quick "you'll be fine"  No one wants to talk.

I'm sure it will be fine. It's just all a bit overwhelming.

  • Hi Ky71 and welcome to the community.

How did you get on with your polypectomy yesterday? I hope it went well and the team who were looking after you were able to put your mind at ease but if you have any questions playing on your mind or would just like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're very welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I'm sure some of our members will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

  • It didn't go well at all.

I had a different person doing colonoscopy this time and he was very harsh and hurt me a lot.

He couldn't find the flat polyp I was there to have removed.
he kept hovering around the site where the tiny clip from the other polyp that was removed.
He basically said the other one didn't exist even though I have pictures of it and was shown it very clearly on screen during last colonoscopy two weeks ago.

he found a completely new smooth one and caused so much pain removing that.

After the procedure the nurses were very kind and expressed concerned because there was no report. (Problem with printer apparently?)

I was asked to stay over night as I was so uncomfortable but after sitting in a chair for 7 hours waiting for a ward to be able to take me I'm afraid I'd just had enough and got my husband to collect me.

I was assured a manager would be calling me today to discuss.

I feel completely confused and traumatised.

  • Hi Ky71,

I'm sorry to hear about the experience you've had - I can imagine this has been really tough.

Hopefully by now you have had the phone call to discuss this, and an opportunity to talk through your concerns.

If you feel you'd like to talk things through further with someone, our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Sadly I have not had phone call from consultant.

I did get a call to go for a scan on Friday,

when I got to hospital I was told he'd requested the wrong type of scan so I needed to have a blood test and wait an hour for the results as the scan needed contrast.

I recieved a report through post which contradicts the first report.   I just feel like he has dismissed me and does not care.
