Biopsy wait

Hello, 

I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I'm a 29 year old male and have had issues with my bowel for over 2 years, I finally had a flexi-sigmoidoscopy and on rotation they found some "lesions" or atypical haemorrhoids quite low down in the rectum, so the consultant booked me in for a priority 2 surgery for biopsies and a haemorrhoidectomy which I had 3 weeks ago now (4 weeks on Thursday). For some reason he didn't do the haemorrhoidectomy and it wasn't explained to me as to why and he didn't come and see me following the procedure so I didn't get to ask. 
 

he told me that it would take 2 weeks for the results however, I'm still waiting. I asked my GP on Monday and they said the results weren't back yet. Is this normal? I'm quite anxious about it.

    Hi, I'm sorry that you're in this situation and having to post on a cancer forum.

    I can't tell you anything that will alleviate your stress unfortunately but I sincerely hope that everything works out ok for you and that it's many years before you need to post again.

    The forum is absolutely amazing, I took some time to read about your journey and I hope everything is going well for you now. 
     

    hopefully I have some answers this week, they have the preliminary results but the consultant needs to discuss these with the pathologist before he talks to me apparently.

    Hi,

    Another wait for you must be torture. I'm sure you've thought out every scenario in your head and googled extensively. Try and stay positive and remember no news is good news.

    As for me I've hit a roadblock with my treatment as I'm allergic to it. It's a rare reaction along with a rare cancer so I'm now a guinea pig. However as I'm currently in remission which I was told was almost impossible I'll meet this challenge head on and continue to kick cancer where it hurts.

    I'm having a mastectomy without reconstruction at the end of August to lower the risk of cancer in the primary site. I won't miss the breast as it's full of odema and significantly larger than it should be. 

    So that's my story so far. I sincerely hope that you receive good news. Let me know and until then be kind to yourself xx

    Hi Barb, 

    Oh I definitely have! I find myself staring at the images of the lesions on my phone (I'm a weirdo and took a picture) it's frustrating that they have the preliminary results but need to discuss with other people before they discuss it with me, but I understand why. I'm a nurse myself, and have never been on the receiving end like this before, I feel as if this makes me a very bad patient haha. 
     

    So glad to hear you are in remission, my friend has just had reconstructive breast surgery but was also considering not doing it. You sound like a true warrior! And it's so uplifting to hear about your journey and your positivity! I have met so many people like yourself and it's so inspiring, I never thought I'd be coming here looking for advice and I almost feel like a fraud as it could be good news as well, but even if that is the case, I got to meet a hero like yourself who come here to bravely share your story and help others, so thank you so much for that :)

    Hiya Barb, 

    Hope you're well today. 
    I got my biopsy results, I have Anal Intraepithelial Neoplasm grade 3, so it's precancerous, I've been referred to an oncologist at a hospital in Manchester for further treatment. Not completely sure how I feel about it.
