Hello there and best wishes to all looking for answers and comfort at the moment.
Im just curious if anyone has had any experiences like me. About a month ago (mid June) I was working (in a cafe in normal circumstances for anyone interested - i.e. not very stressful circumstances but I've had a lot of anxiety and stress about the current pandemic) and the right side of my neck suddenly - and I mean suddenly, within seconds - ballooned and I had a swelling on my neck. I went to my GP who diagnosed it as a swollen lymph node and said that it may be an infection somewhere in my lower respiratory system. She gave me antiobiotics to take to "fight" the infection and I went home. The swelling was very evident when I looked in the mirror. Not a small part of my neck but an evident curve.
Two weeks pass and the swelling is entirely gone. I feel absolutely normal and on form, even do a big move by myself to another city and leave my family. Functioning fine. Get a new job - suddenly at work again, neck swells up (though the swelling is a lot less than the first time) - I go to get a scan and the doctor tells me my thyroid gland has swollen and there are some nodules on there (I do have some shortness of breath mainly due to the swelling of the thyroid and the pressure on the trachea) and they did a biopsy on the nodule just to find out what's going on with it
Since then - 7 days from the date I post this - the shortness of breath has faded as well as the swelling.
Can anyone give me any insight into what is going on? I have a follow up appointment with ENT who won't give me any test results of the biopsy over the phone. I can't find any results in the search that talk about suddenly swelling of the thyroid gland.
Thank you for your time and hope you're well. J
