Post-menopausal bleeding

Hi everyone

I'm 51 and had my last period March 2019, 3 weeks ago I had what can only be described as a period. Of course I Googled this as I thought it was odd...amongst all the scary stuff, the advice was to contact my GP, who immediately referred me on the 2ww pathway.

Last Friday (18th) I had an ultrasound and a TVS. I've heard nothing since and I'm driving myself nuts with worry.

I know there's nothing to do but wait, but honestly I can't concentrate on anything else.

Thank you for reading :)

  • Hello Rahonass,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your  results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

You are right unfortunately it's all a waiting game now, and it's not a very fun game! I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips on this page on how to cope while waiting for news which I hope will help you concentrate on other things even though it is so hard to do so.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you so much for your reply Lucie.

Yesterday I got a letter for a follow-up appointment on the 5th July with the head gynae consultant, who also happens to be the lead clinician for onconlogy, at the bottom my letter says 'I might find it helpful to bring someone with me'

I am fearing the worst now.
