Hi, Apologies for the long post!

I have had various symptoms for almost 2 years now. Due to COVID my referral taken until the end of last year. I am now with gynaecology for investigation (been through muskoskeletal dept already).

Originally they were looking to assess multiple symptoms and decided to put me on 3 months of injections to 'turn off my hormones'. This is to see if the symptoms reduce while I have no hormones in my system. I will also start HRT for the next 3 months (first injection and start HRT Thursday) I have also had erratic periods and random bleeding for a few years. My last bleed was for almost 6 weeks (finished 12th June), extremely heavy and ended up severely anaemic. I have started bleeding again today! I'm 44 and the injection will cause a 'temp/ trial menopause!'

Anyway...after this discussion with the Consultant, he said he wanted to do scan. His exact words were 'the goalposts have moved'. He discovered my womb lining is 31mm and covered in polyps! I am now on the 2 week pathway and waiting for a hysteroscopy appointment. I have an anaesthetic assessment this Friday. Dr wants a biopsy, removal of polyps, smear and mirena coil fitted. He has also requested a pelvic MRI. 

It feels like everything is suddenly moving very quickly (which I'm certainly not complaining about) I just feel uneasy as to his change of mannerism when he scanned and seen womb/ polyps.

I would like to hear anyones else's stories, the good, the bad and if anyone else has suddenly been thrust into this amount of assessments, tests and procedures?

    Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will get back to you soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to wish you all the best with your upcoming tests and share some information I've found about the hysteroscopy and the MRI.

    I hope this makes things a little less scary but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses whilst you wait, you're very welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Thank you for replying and providing information about tests.

    I had my anaesthetic assessment Friday 25th, all checks/ tests done. Not sure how long appointment for hysteroscopy will take, however as on 2 week track O'm assuming it would be a few weeks at the most. With the increase in covid cases, the hospital are reducing visitors and some appointments/ services....may now take a bit longer! I'll get a covid test 3 days prior to procedure, then isolate for 3 days before going in. At least I'll get at least 4 days notice before going in! 

    Waiting game now.....

    Well I got MRI appointment through and its this week coming! Looks llike they want more information before hysteroscopy!  Not sure how soon after MRI I'll get hysteroscopy appointment through! After almost 2 years of no diagnosis, things seemed to start moving a bit quicker, but slowed down again! Anyway, need to focus on getting through MRI!! I had a spinal one in February, was in it for 1 1/2 hours, had a bit of a meltdown and still get anxiety when I think about it. I'm not an anxious person but had huge issues in MRI. I'm big built and almost 6ft tall. The noise didn't bother me but the feeling of being 'stuffed' into it and unable to move filled me with so much fear! The professor who rederred me said I won't need to go in fully, only upto pelvis and I can go in feet first so my arms and upper body aren't in it...has anyone any experience of a pelvix MRI?? On a positive, had a wonderful day with daughter, granddaughter and daughter in law today....in garden enjoying the stunning weather

    Today had 2nd injection (to stop hormones) and ouch that was a sore one Started spotting yesterday and increased today, even though I'm not meant to have bleeding/ periods when on this injection!! Just getting ready to go for pelvic MRI and I'm bricking it (to put it mildly) Keeping everything crossed I can get it done without having my head/ upper body in it!! Really want to be able to get it done, as it will aid in hopefully getting a diagnosis after 2 years of issues!

    **Update** I couldn't do it, was going to be ok for first part, as I could see the roof and head wasn't completely in but they would've needed to put me further in for the last part and when they let me do a 'test run' I couldn't do it This wasin the mobile MRI unit (same as first one) the machine is smaller, the unit is small and the place feels small! They've put my details back to get an appointment in the main MRI unit in a 'proper' size machine, in an actual hospital room! I feel absolutely rubbish for not being able to do it and wasting an appointment, when so many people are on the waiting lists! Also means my procedure will be delayed until the MRI results are available
