telling parents about lump

Hi, I have no idea how to tell my parents about a lump bc the thought of it scares me and I don't want to worry them. I can't wait for diagnosis though as i am 17 and unable to drive myself to get it checked, any help?

  • Please talk to your parents they would not want you to be going through this  and worrying alone.

Sit them down without any interruptions no tv etc and explain and if you all end up crying then just let it happen.

    Xxxx

  • Hi there and thank you for posting. You don't say what sort of lump you are talking about but first of all don't assume the worst. Most lumps, particularly in younger people, are not caused by cancer. The first thing you need to do is call your GP. It is possible you could have a phone or video consultation so won't need to worry about driving to the surgery. If the GP thinks it needs further investigation then you can talk to your parents then. Don't jump ahead of yourself and make yourself worry about something that hasn't happened. Make that call to the GP and fingers crossed they will be able to reassure you.
