Worried about my mum hard lump in breast

Hi everyone,

I am worried sick about my mum. She found a hard lump the size of a marble in the outer part of her left breast. She has an appointment at the breast clinic in a couple of weeks but it's driving me mad with worry, I can't eat or sleep I am so worried. She's in her 50s post menopausal, is there anything else can cause lumps in post menopausal women apart from cancer?! She had a mammogram last autumn which came back all clear but now I've read that mammograms don't pick up all cancer .Counting down the days to her appointment but even then I understand we may have to wait for results. It's so hard not to think the worst and looking at all of the stats it all goes against her Thanks xx

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear this... you've every right to feel worried! I'm not too sure about post menopause, but I know that any hormonal changes/fluctuations can cause breast cysts so fingers crossed it is just this!

I myself had similar symptoms and it turned out to be thickened breast tissue caused by hormonal fluctuations.

In terms of results, I got my results back on the same day as the scan so hopefully your mum receives them quickly so you both won't have to worry until you find out.

Keeping everything crossed for you all  xx
