I am 69 and 5 weeks post radical hysterectomy (everything was removed).

I had a letter 3 weeks ago confirming that the early Cancer of my womb has been completely removed and I need no further treatment.  They did biopsies and they were clear, so it was all contained.

The whole thing from me contacting my doctor as I had a very slight (think small scratch) bleed, to receiving the all clear letter has been around 3 months so I consider myself very lucky in these uncertain Covid times.

I, too couldn't take the pain of an internal scan, so had one with an anaesthetic like you.  The lining of my womb was thick and they found two large Polyps that were found to be precancerous.  I was sent for an MRI scan the day after my follow up appointment.  It scared me a bit when I was introduced to my cancer nurse who I could ring any time to ask questions.

All in all, apart from the scary diagnosis and my first operation being a major one, everything went very smoothly.  I am so very pleased I didn't ignore that first sign as the outcome might have been very different.

Just let the medical professionals do their job.  Even if you need a hysterectomy the recovery is much easier than it used to be.  I had keyhole surgery and now, after 5 weeks, carry on much as normal even though I am nearly 70 and have other medical issues.  The worst after effect for me has been the tiredness.

Good luck, and I know it is not easy, but try not to worry too much.  You are in good hands.

Many thanks for your positive reply that has really helped me.

I feel so anxious and after that awful eposide of the internal going badly my pelvis pain has got much more uncomfortable. 

I will put my trust in the medical team like you have said and will let you know how it goes.

I initially went to the doctors with slight low stomach pain that I had not had before.  He sent me for a scan on my ovaries which showed a thickened womb lining.  I then had a hysteroscopy and had two polyps removed.  This was Spring 2020. The biopsies and polyps were OK so I was sent on my way.

Then, about a year later I noticed a very small amount of blood on the toilet paper.  This was new so I spoke to the GP again.  He fast tracked me to the gynaecologist and I had another hysteroscopy (this time under anaesthetic.  I wasn't going through that awake again!  I found it very painful, and I have had 3 children.

This time they removed 2 large polyps and if you read my answer to the original posting above you will see the rest. 

As I said to Linda, trust your doctors, I only have praise for the ones that treated me.
