Breast Scare

I have a really painful right armpit, usually it's tender when I am on but over the past couple months it's constant. I visited my GP on Weds she couldn't feel any lumps but referred me to the breast clinic. I got an appointment the next day for tomorrow. I have done the worst thing and googled and now I am petrified.

I don't know what to expect and I am feeling very scared. The pain is getting worse but I think because I am so worried I am thinking more. I think the speed of it all has also scared me even more

has anyone else had a similar experience? How long will I have to wait to get results of the scan?

  • Hello Nel84,

Welcome to our forum! It's incredible that you managed to get an appointment so quickly. How did it all go?

For most scans you should get the results within 1-2 weeks but do ask your specialist at the breast clinic who will be able to tell you exactly how long it will take to get your results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi thank you for replying

Amazing how quick the appointment was!
Everything is clear and no cancer...... long story I had my tonsils removed a few years ago and when I am unwell or rundown instead of getting tonsillitis it now goes to my armpit and gives he a abscess type thing..... so explains the pain

but again thank you for the response and love and light to everyone on here x

  • Amazing news Nel84. I am so pleased for you! Huge relief it must be. Thank you for taking the trouble to come here and let us know. We love good news like this here.
