High Ca125 of 205 very stressed!!!

Hi everybody,

I am 48 year old married peri-menopausal women, unfortunately no children. I have had a high ish CA125 ( highest 130 ish)  since in  my 30s and have been diagnosed with 6 large fibroids, largest 13 cm amd smallest 6cm, also I have  endometriosis and recently diagnosed fatty liver in September 2020.

After suffering bloating, stomach wind,  extreme nausea and diarrhea  for about 6 months my doctor ordered bloods and FIT test (stool test) including CA125. The GP called me today and informed me the other test came back fine, but my CA125 came back over 205. I'm having an MRI on Monday or Tuesday (still to be confirmed).

I'm very concerned as I have these symptoms and having the high CA125 that I may have some sort of cancer. Recently a friend has just been diagnosed with cancerous mass on her cervix, which had gone into her lungs  and unfortunately is not curable but just treatable with chemo. Which we are all devastated about.  It has made me very paranoid  about my own test results.

Has anyone on here had high ca125 levels (over200) with endometriosis or fibroids or both?

  • Hello AngieHD,

A warm welcome to our forum. I know it's really hard but try not to anticipate the worst as there are many reasons why CA125 levels may be elevated and it doesn't always mean it is linked to cancer. So try not to draw any conclusions at this stage and it won't be too long now before you get some answers.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis - it is incredibly sad and it is normal that this is at the back of your mind and that it has made you worry about your own test results. But the two are very much separate and I am keeping everything crossed for you.

Best of luck for your MRI next week. Try and keep busy and distracted if you can while you are waiting for results and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Funny, I came by here to look for info on skin cancer and this is sitting right on top.  For once in my life I'm in the right place at the right time!  I had endometriosis on my ovaries, and my CA125 was nearly 300.  My doctor at the time said that was what made him suspect endo over another benign tumor (at the time imaging tests made my doctors confident it wasn't cancer, although I was still terrified of course).  I don't think I had it checked when I had my hysterectomy (for a fibroid but a bunch of endo was found lurking behind everything) so I can't speak to fibroids, but for endo, it absolutely can go that high. Apparently high CA125 in those who are pre-menopausal isn't a useful test in predicting cancer for just this reason.

  • Thank you. That's really made me feel less worried. I'm hopefully having a MRI on Tuesday. Fingers crossed all will be ok.

I hope you get the help you need with the skin cancer.

  • Thank you. I'll try and keep busy to keep my mind off it.

Although the nausea is getting worse. I don't get any restspite from it ( it's been 2 weeks now). I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow to see if there is anything he/she can give me.  I'm going away Wednesday for a few nights so hopefully feel better by then.

    Thanks again. A x

  • I hope you're getting some good answers by now!
